Habitat- dense tropical rain forest in Central Africa (Democratic Republic of Congo) Diet- Leaves, fruits, seeds, ferns, and some species of fungi (herbivore) How it Obtains Food- uses its long tongue to break off leaves of branches Habits- Remains solitary, super shy Bodily Functions/Needs- gestation lasts for about 440 days (16 months), cleans body parts (e.g., eyelids,ears) with tongue Danger Ranking: Its habitat is getting destroyed out in the wild and there has been lots of poaching going on that is reducing the population size. Interacting With Humans/Animals: Okapi are mostly solitary and can tolerate other individuals, but are usually not very social.
